My project-1 (19).png

The Product

A website to help potential Historically Black

Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) students find

a school that will best fit their needs.

The Problem

Most college finder websites that are comprehensive do not focus on HBCUs. The HBCU finder websites do not provide an extensive look of the colleges and universities.

The Goal

Provide comprehensive information about HBCUs for potential students.

My Role

UX Designer and Researcher

Target Audience

Students and families who are interested in Historically Blacks Colleges and Universities.

Research Study

I administered user interviews this was turned into empathy maps, pain points, personas and journey maps.

I did not set out to have a website about HBCUs. Initially I was thinking about a website for elementary school children. But as I conducted user interviews I realized that HBCUs are under represented in the college finder space.

After I decided to build a website for potential HBCUs students and their families, I researched the competing websites for pain points.  I found that HBCU finder websites just weren’t as polished as other college finder websites and the information was not as comprehensive either.
